Dehner Named Grammy Finalist
David Dehner

Lee University alumnus David Dehner (‘86) was recently named a finalist for the Grammy Foundation's 2017 Music Educator Award.

Dehner currently teaches music at Monte Vista Christian School in Watsonville, California.

According to the Grammy Foundation, the Music Educator Award recognizes “current educators who have made a significant and lasting contribution to the field of music education and who demonstrate a commitment to the broader cause of maintaining music education in schools.”

A total of 10 music teachers from 10 cities across seven states were announced as finalists for the award presented by The Recording Academy and the GRAMMY Foundation. The names of finalists were announced earlier this month on CBS This Morning.

Dehner will find out if he has won the Grammy in mid-January. The winner will receive a $10,000 honorarium and will be flown to Los Angeles to attend the 59th Grammy Awards ceremony. The ceremony will air on CBS Feb. 12, 2017.
