School of Music to Present Senior Honors Concert Tuesday

The Lee University School of Music will present the Senior Honors Concert on Tuesday, March 13, at 7:30 p.m. in Squires Recital Hall.

The concert will honor students who represent the highest standards of achievement in musical performance, showcasing 13 outstanding performers selected by the School of Music faculty from over 300 full-time music majors.

“It is always a pleasure to see talented students work hard and mature,” said Dr. Doug Warner, chair of the music performance studies department at Lee. “These exceptional seniors have dedicated themselves to their art during their time at Lee, and we are proud to showcase them in this concert.”

Students selected to perform were chosen by the School of Music Faculty and will represent a variety of applied areas including brass, strings, piano, and voice. Musical selections will include works by Baadsvik, Britten, Debussy, Duparc, Floyd, Handel, Kapustin, Mendelssohn, Milhaud, Saint-Saëns, Strauss, Šulek, and Watson.

The outstanding students come from a variety of Lee music faculty studios, including Anna Marie Brendel, soprano, from the studio of Virginia Horton; Jacob Coleman and Hannah Shope, piano, from the studio of Dr. Cahill Smith; Audra Daniel, voice, from the studio of Tony Deaton; Kyle Davidson, trombone, from the studio of Dr. Doug Warner; Clay Fissell, saxophone, from the studio of Alan Wyatt; Victoria Inman, voice, from the studio of Jimmy Frost; Sophie Lockhart, saxophone, from the studio of Clint Schmitt; Brittany Martin, voice, from the studio of Dr. Lenena Brezna; Is’mail Martin, tuba, from the studio of William Pritchard; Kristiana McCombs, cello, from the studio of Theodore Kartal; Caitlin Overton, voice, from the studio of Dr. Chery Brendel; and Elisabeth Schrock, voice, from the studio of Dr. Andrea Dismukes.

This event is free, non-ticketed, and open to the public. A reception will immediately follow in the main lobby of the Humanities Building adjacent to Squires Recital Hall.
