Lee Hosts Local High School Art Exhibit

The Lee University High School Art Exhibit, hosted by Lee’s art program, will take place through this Friday, March 23, at the Squires Library.

Each year local high school art teachers and the home school association choose submitted student works to be displayed at this show.

“It is a joy to work with the local high school art teachers in promoting their students’ artwork,” said John Simmons, assistant professor of art at Lee. “The students exhibit a lot of skill and creativity in their work, and we are excited to have the annual display on our campus to help further their artistic endeavors.”

This year’s merit awards went to Rachel Cobb, Home School Association; Frannie Martin, Walker Valley High School; and Bethany Riebchlager, Bradley High School.

“In addition to these three outstanding student works, the exhibit displays the overall quality of art work being done in the local school programs,” said Simmons. “Teachers can certainly take pride in the art work being done in their schools.”

The exhibit was organized by Lee art faculty Mary Mathias-Dickerson and Simmons.
