MAA Conference Draws Nearly 400 Attendees


Lee University recently hosted the 98th annual meeting of the Mathematical Association of America (MAA), Southeastern Section.

Not including those who registered on site, there were 396 registrants on campus for the event. Of the 132 lectures given over the weekend, 36 were by undergraduate students.

“It was an honor to be chosen to host a conference of this magnitude,” said Dr. Maher-Boulis, professor of mathematics at Lee and organizer of the conference.

The conference was sponsored by Hawkes, Cengage, and McGraw publishers.

Math Jeopardy
Twenty-six teams compete in Math Jeopardy.

“The conference was run so well,” said Carol Schumacher, vice president of Mathematical Association of America. “I have coordinated one of these meetings in the past, so I know how much work it is. It was a joy to connect with friends over some superb math talks.”
