    Interlibrary Loan Coordinator

    Purpose Of Job

    Under the general supervision of the Librarian for Public Services, the Interlibrary Loan Coordinator / Reference Assistant provides interlibrary loan services to the administration, faculty, staff and students of Lee University and the Pentecostal Theological Seminary and general reference services to maximize the productive use of information resources for study, learning, research and pleasure. This position is a part-time, twelve (12) month position, and the Reference Assistant must be willing to work assigned shifts and other/special shifts (as needed) and serve as a key member of the library’s Reference team. This position includes supervising the Friday evening and Sunday shift for the library. Additional evening and weekend hours may be required.

    Education & Work Experience:


    • High School Diploma
    • Knowledge and skills in computer programs such as; Microsoft Word, Internet Explorer, Excel and Outlook


    • Two (2) years of experience working in a library setting or any equivalent combination of experience and education which provides required knowledge, skills, and abilities, including previous supervisory experience
    • Bachelors degree from an accredited academic institution
    • Background in administration and management.
    • Experience with OCLC and First Search.
    • Knowledge of Library of Congress classification system

    Skill Requirements:

    • Excellent customer service, communication (verbal and written), interpersonal and problem solving skills
    • Ability to work independently under minimum supervision in accordance with established procedures, but function as part of a team
    • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of computers, data processing software, email programs, spreadsheet design, and telephones
    • Working knowledge of computers, data processing software, email programs, spreadsheet design, and telephones
    • Working knowledge of research techniques/methods, including various documentation styles (MLA, APA, Chicago, etc.)
    • Working knowledge of Library of Congress classification system
    • Ability to learn thoroughly the physical layout of the library and direct patrons to the requested/needed area of the facility
    • Ability to operate basic office equipment (copier, printer, etc.) and the ability to assist others in using the equipment as necessary
    • Thorough familiarity with library website and its contents
    • Considerable ability to pay attention to detail
    • Knowledge of paraprofessional library principles, methods, techniques and procedures (including the ability to maintain confidentiality regarding library patron records and other classified information)
    • Ability to exercise sound judgment and remain calm in difficult situations
    • Willing to present a professional image and work ethic
    • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks
    • Strong organizational and decision making skills
    • Ability to manage student assistants
