Lee University's Voices of Lee recently auditioned for the upcoming season of NBC’s “America’s Got Talent,” which will premiere on Tuesday, May 27.
“It was an exciting experience,” said Voices of Lee Director Danny Murray. “Results are confidential, but I hope folks will tune in Tuesday to see how it went.”
“America’s Got Talent” (AGT), NBC's top-rated summer series, returns this summer for its ninth season. Howard Stern, Heidi Klum, Mel B and Howie Mandel return as judges, and Nick Cannon returns as host.
With the talent search open to acts of all ages, AGT has brought the variety format back to the forefront of American culture by showcasing performers from across the country. The series is a celebration of the American spirit, featuring a colorful array of singers, dancers, comedians, contortionists, impressionists, jugglers, magicians, ventriloquists and hopeful stars.
Celebrating 20 years of touring, Voices of Lee has captivated audiences worldwide. This 15-member a cappella group is characterized by their unique variety of lush vocal harmonies. They have been featured at the international “Sing Conference” for a cappella at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center, toured Europe with concerts at the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris and England’s Ely Cathedral, as well as Christmas at the White House in D.C.
Voices of Lee was propelled into the International Spotlight on the debut season of NBC’s “Sing Off” competition of a cappella groups in 2009. Out of thousands of auditions, they were selected as one of eight groups to compete and were featured on four prime time NBC network episodes. After nationwide voting, Voices finished as second runner up in the “Sing Off.” They were also voted one of the favorite groups by the Contemporary A Cappella Society of America.
The season premiere for AGT will air this Tuesday on NBC at 8 p.m. EST. Voices of Lee’s journey can be followed at
