Move to NCAA Requires Team EffortEveryone Associated with Lee's Athletic Department. Will be Involved. As many of the Lee University athletic family already knows we are extremely excited to be in the first stage of the membership process for joining NCAA Division II. During this 2012-13 year we will continue to be members of the NAIA while simultaneously beginning to follow the rules and regulations set by the NCAA and our future home conference, the Gulf South Conference. Throughout this process we will continue our commitment to our student- athletes’, physical, mental, social, and spiritual development. We will strive to instill in our student athletes the type of character that will exhibit the life of Christ to those against whom we compete.NCAA compliance rules and regulations are very complex and will require the efforts of everyone associated with Lee University’s athletic department. This group will include institutional staff, faculty, students, student-athletes’ parents and family, boosters and fans. In order to be compliant, we must not only know the rules but also know why the rules exist. As we begin this new and exciting journey with the NCAA we will be seeking to demonstrate our commitment to institutional control. With that in mind we are requesting that everyone “ask before you act” whenever compliance issues arise. This will insure that the eligibility of our athletic department and our student athletes will not be in jeopardy. In the months ahead we will keep you informed on our progress toward our eventual goal of full NCAA membership. This is a move that our entire Lee University family can be proud of and look forward to achieving. If you have any questions concerning NCAA rules and regulations, please contact Paul Cretton, Compliance coordinator, at (423) 614-8640.
