Digital Media Studies, December 2013
Daniel Howat, a digital media studies major from Milford, Ohio, is the founder and president of Lee University’s Film Society.
“I have a passion for film and storytelling,” said Daniel. “Writing visually for Film and TV, along with shooting video, is a major love of mine.”
Daniel has been involved at Lee through Conn Crew, working as technical support for events and doing jobs like running audio for chapel. He is also a student worker for Professor Matthew Fisher in the Communication Arts department and the head lab instructor for entry level digital media studies students, teaching them basic editing skills and camera techniques.
In the 2013 Lee University Film Festival, Daniel’s film "Dibs" won Best Screenplay and Best Actor.
Following his December graduation, he plans to marry and move to Atlanta, Ga.
“I am looking into the massive film scene growing in Atlanta,” said Daniel. “There are numerous film studios opening in the area, such as Pinewood Studios, and I will attempt to find my place.”
