Senior telecommunications major Beecher Reuning always knew he wanted to be a storyteller. All he needed was a way to project his ideas. When he came to Lee University from Blue Ridge, Ga., in the fall of 2008, majoring in telecommunications was a natural fit.
During his time at Lee, Reuning worked on the Lee Clarion staff for two years, with the video production department, the Inside Lee Basketball videographer, and served as a Final Cut Pro lab instructor. In 2009, Reuning was the recipient of the Hicks Scholarship for the Communications Department, and has also been on the dean’s list for three years with a 4.0 grade point average.
Beecher has shot and produced videos independently. His film, ‘World Enough and Time,’ placed second in the 2010 Lee University Film Festival. In spring of 2011, his film ‘Book Covers’ was selected for Regent University’s Reel Dreams short film contest, placing second.
In addition to his passion for filmmaking and video production, Beecher has been involved in Lee’s Crossover Ministries, a weekly service group that delivers food to community residents in need.
“No matter what I do,” he says, “I want to creatively express my faith.”
