Christian comedian, songwriter, and singer Mark Lowry will appear at Lee on Thursday, March 5, in a benefit concert at Pangle Hall at 7 p.m. All proceeds from the event will benefit The Caring Place.

Lowry is best known for co-writing the song “Mary, Did You Know?” He performed with the Gaither Vocal Band from 1988 to 2001 and rejoined the band from 2009 to 2013. He has also recorded 12 albums, including both music and comedy. He graduated from Liberty College (now Liberty University) in 1980 and has been performing across the country for nearly 40 years.

Joining Lowry will be Stan Whitmire and The Martins.

Whitmire is a Dove Award-winning pianist, and for more than 30 years, he has been part of the music ministry of Mount Paran Church of God in Atlanta, Georgia.

The Martins consists of siblings Joyce, Jonathan, and Judy. For more than 20 years, the group has performed throughout the country as well as internationally. They have earned eight Dove Awards from the Gospel Music Association as well as a Grammy nomination.

The Caring Place is an organization in Cleveland which supports individuals and families in need. Their mission is to address not only the physical but the social and spiritual needs of the disadvantaged. Last year, the agency provided food, clothing, diapers, Sac Pacs (weekend meals for children who experience hunger and/or food insecurity), and Karis dental extractions to those in need. They also provide professional social work services, financial and spiritual counseling, and prayer.

Lowry will also be speaking to Lee University students in chapel that morning.

Tickets for the evening benefit performance are $50 for main floor seating, $35 for balcony, and $75 for VIP. VIP seats are on the main floor and include heavy hors d’oeuvres along with a meet and greet with Mark Lowry before the concert.
