Lee to Hold Fall Jazz Ensemble Concert
Lee University’s Jazz Ensemble will hold a concert on Thursday, Nov. 11, at 7:30 p.m. in the Conn Center, under the direction of Alan Wyatt.
The program will feature compositions by Bill Evans, Toshiko Akiyoshi, and Maria Schneider, among others.
“I believe our audience will find our program to be especially exciting, as we plan to present a wide variety of styles,” said Wyatt. “This is a tremendous group of students, most of whom played with us last year. The few newbies who have joined us have had big shoes to fill, nonetheless they have risen to the challenge valiantly.”
Lee University Jazz Ensemble performs traditional and recent literature for the traditional Big Band. The ensemble includes rhythm, saxophones, trumpets, and trombones. A frequent award winner at national festivals, it performs for campus, school, and civic events.
Tenor saxophonist Wyatt is an associate professor of music at Lee and a highly-acclaimed soloist known for his imaginative improvisations.
Lee University remains dedicated to the health and safety of both the campus community and guests and will observe COVID-19 protocols based on CDC recommendations at the time of the performance.
The concert is free, non-ticketed, and open to the public.
