Lee Trio to Present “Elegance and Virtuosity”
Lee School of Music will host the Lee Trio concert, “Elegance and Virtuosity,” on Monday, April 3, at 7:30 p.m. in Squires Recital Hall.
The performance will feature “The Gypsy Piano Trio No. 39 in G major” by Joseph Haydn and “Piano Trio in G Minor, Op. 15” by Bedrich Smetana.
“The Lee Trio looks forward to presenting this brilliant, virtuosic composition by Smetana to our audience,” said Xiaoqing Yu, associate professor of violin at Lee. “It’s one of the best written pieces of romantic music.”
Formed in September 2017, the dynamic Lee Trio consists of faculty members from the Lee University School of Music including Yu, violin; Theodore Kartal, cello; and Muen Wei, piano. The Lee Trio advocates for cross-cultural unity through music, and its members serve as artistic ambassadors for music education between the United States and Asia.
The ensemble has appeared in concerts and masterclasses in North America and Asia, and its performances have won the trio popularity with large public audiences as well as educational institutions. When not touring internationally, Lee Trio regularly performs on campuses and surrounding communities across the U.S.
The concert is free, non-ticketed, and open to the public. Squires Recital Hall is located in the Humanities Building on Lee’s campus.
