The Lee University Center for Responsible Citizenship (CRC) recently awarded Liliana Marler, a rising senior political science major, its newly installed CRC Research Scholarship for her work on the year’s theme, “Institutions & Inheritance.”

In addition to receiving this $500 award, Marler is a Kairos Honors Scholar, McNair Scholar, and Rymer Scholar. Marler will be working with CRC Director Dr. Thomas Pope to develop further research on Christian liberal arts education this summer.

“The CRC has shown me a more embodied experience of living, exposing me to a robust dialogue with students from different majors and all walks of life,” said Marler. “It has inspired me to believe in my abilities, allowing them to be refined by challenges and directing them toward the intellectual and spiritual edification of myself and my community.”

According to Pope, the CRC is grateful for Marler’s dedication to the Center and looks forward to seeing her grow in her intellectual and spiritual endeavors.

“It’s wonderful to see Liliana’s care for others manifest itself in her studies.” said Pope. “The Center for Responsible Citizenship works hard to supplement the curricular life of students so that their intellectual interests bear real fruit in their community.”

Marler’s award is among the many benefits offered by the CRC. The Center provides numerous opportunities to students seeking to be active and beneficial members of a healthy community.

Lee’s Center for Responsible Citizenship hosts interdisciplinary reading groups, lectures, workshops, and symposia to cultivate conversation about the elements of a healthy community.
