In order to be considered as a candidate for the Master of Science in Athletic Training, each student must meet the following requirements:

• Hold a bachelor’s degree from a regionally-accredited college or university with a cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Students not meeting the cumulative 3.0 GPA program requirement may still be fully accepted to the MSAT program upon a successful appeal to the MSAT Admissi on Committee.  No candidate may appeal with unless they have one of the following: 
    • A GPA of 3.0 or greater in final 60 credit hours of major course work, or
    • A GPA between 2.75 & 2.99 with a Graduate Record Examination (GRE) score of at least a 144V and 146Q.
  • A formal letter of appeal with accompanying documentation is required to be submitted to the Program Director for consideration.
• Suggested CPR Health Care Provider certification (e.g. American Red Cross, American Heart Association, etc.). If a CPR certification cannot be obtained prior to admission, the student will be provided training in American Heart Association basic Life Support certification once on campus, prior to beginning clinical education.
• Accumulate approximately 50 hours with 1 or more Athletic Trainers with appropriate state and national licensures.
• Meet required prerequisites course work.

Campus visits are highly recommended prior to full application submissions.

If an application is deemed acceptable by the application selection committee, interviews will be conducted. Individual interviews will be established based on student and committee preference. Possible interview formats include; phone, computerized video, or in-person.

Graduate School Financial Information

Additional Program Fees will include:

• Clinical Lab Fees are $75.00 per academic semester
• NATA student membership: $80 annually
• ATrack membership: $45/1 year, $90/lifetime
• Clinical Attire Costs are varied based on personal preference ($50-200)
• Travel expenses are varied based on assignments to different clinical rotation sites
• Students are required to attend the SEATA student symposium each February. Students will be financially responsible for their registration fee, hotel accommodations, and any meals not covered in their registration. Students are highly encouraged to fundraise in order to mitigate the personal financial responsibility.
• Currently our non-immersive and football immersion sites are less than 50 miles away.
• There may be additional transportation and housing fees required during the final 10-week immersive experience if the student wishes to conduct this experience at a location outside of a reasonable driving distance from Lee University. Every attempt will be made to limit the distance of the final immersive experience to less than 100 miles from campus.
• The final fee is related to keeping the CPR and first aid certification current, once they are accepted into the program. This fee can cost between 50 to 75 dollars dependent on which organization & instructor the student elects to use for the re-credentialing.

This degree program is designed to prepare students who want a career in the field of athletic training. This program was designed to meet the accreditation standard that requires a master’s degree in athletic training to be eligible for Board Certification Exam. This program will provide students with a core of science courses to fulfill master degree pre-requisite requirements, athletic training specific course work, and varied clinical experiences and internships. Courses like care and prevention of athletic injuries, exercise physiology I and II, principles and advanced nutrition, and psychology of sports, in addition to the science courses will give LU graduates a tremendous advantage during their advanced graduate studies.
