Resources

The Lee University Counseling Center provides parents with resources to help their student with emotional development.

At Lee University, we are committed to empowering parents as essential partners in their students’ academic journeys. Our goal is to provide comprehensive resources and support that enable parents to gather relevant information about academic programs, campus services, and student well-being.

With online resources, we aim to equip parents with the tools they need to effectively guide and support their students through their university experience. Together, we can create a collaborative environment that enhances student success and fosters a thriving campus community.

LUCC provides free and confidential individual, couples, and group therapy services in our office. Counseling and psychological services are limited to goal-focused interventions within the training, experience, expertise, and availability of resources of the clinical staff.

Beginning with our intake process, LUCC uses our field’s best practices to make each student’s experience in pursuing counseling as effective and efficient possible. Initial paperwork is completed online, after which LUCC will call within 1 business day to confirm it has been received. Students requesting our services by completing the intake paperwork will be considered for an assignment on Monday mornings and then receive follow-up contact later that day regarding next steps. Treatment assignment outcomes may include individual therapy, therapy group, other group-based interventions such as workshops, or possibly referral to alternative/additional specific institutional or community-based services. This both minimizes wait time and maximizes a good fit between clients’ needs and the treatment options they are offered. Information on crisis services can be found on the “Clinical Services” page.

Please be aware LUCC typically receives more demand for our services than can be reasonably provided. Students may be given the option to remain on our wait list until an assignment in our office can be made. However, LUCC normally only allows students to remain on the wait list for about three weeks; any students who are on the waitlist for at least this length of time (or if they are expected to be on the wait list for at least this length of time) will be referred to an appropriate community provider for ongoing services.

Intake Paperwork: Intake forms are available through a link on the Counseling Center’s Portico page and take about 30 minutes to complete. Please contact our office if you experience any difficulty completing these forms. Paper copies of the intake forms are available upon request.

The Lee University Counseling Center (LUCC) exists to provide professional counseling and psychological services to support the personal, social, spiritual, cultural, emotional, and mental development of Lee University students. This is accomplished by providing a caring and highly qualified staff of therapists, ensuring a safe and confidential environment for clients, identifying and providing relevant assessment resources, promoting and increasing awareness of services offered, and supporting a commitment to healthy lifestyle choices.

Lee University Counseling Center (LUCC) provides free and confidential individual, couples, and group therapy services in our office along with additional outreach and other activities across campus. Counseling and psychological services are limited to goal-focused interventions within the training, experience, expertise, and availability of resources of the clinical staff. If at any time, issues presented by the client extend outside of the scope of available services, appropriate referrals will be provided. Clients will then be expected to follow-up with the outside referral sources. Examples of issues that are potentially outside the scope of LUCC services are immediate threat to self or others, serious and/or persistent mental disorders, long-term supportive therapy, personality disorders, active eating disorders, alcohol and drug addictions, medication management only, and psychological assessments needed for disability purposes.

Direct clinical services begin on the first day of classes through the last day of classes for the fall and spring semesters. LUCC also provides clinical services during May and June. LUCC is closed during the entire month of July and when the university is closed for selected holidays.
