The Director of the Center for Calling and Career at Lee University serves current and former students, as well as Lee employees, in the lifelong process of discovering their gifts, talents, and strengths and using them with a sense of purpose to create a meaningful life in service to God and others.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead departmental staff and oversee recruitment, onboarding, training, scheduling, professional development, and evaluation of all departmental staff and volunteers
  • Assess the work of the Center for Calling & Career utilizing effective data collection and interpretation within the Annual Assessment process
  • Maintain membership and involvement in professional organizations including Gallup, NACE, SoACE, TACE, and NetVUE
  • Facilitate an effective process for students’ change of programs, coordinating with Academic Services for students’ major and minor declarations
  • Provide calling and career exploration services for all students including individual vocational advising, career assessment debriefs, CliftonStrengths coaching, and resource referrals
  • Offer a variety of career assessment tools including Gallup Clifton Strengths for Students, Career Direct, PathwayU, and others as appropriate
  • Promote career and graduate school preparation through individual coaching including resume reviews, mock interviews, job search strategy sessions, and social media audits
  • Foster positive career connections among students, alumni, employers and graduate schools through the management of the online job board, Handshake and career events
  • Host a variety of career events including career fairs, graduate school fairs, workshops, and etiquette dinners to promote vocational discovery and career preparation
  • Facilitate on-site recruiter visits and on campus interviews with students
  • Collaborate with various departments to host major-specific events such as education career fairs, nursing job fair, business dinners, etc.
  • Attend conferences and local events to meet and recruit employers and graduate schools to partner with the Center for Calling and Career to connect with students and alumni
  • Develop connections with local employers through networking at career events and by coordinating their participation as workshop presenters, resume reviewers, mock interviewers, and career mentors
  • Encourage, recruit, and train faculty and staff members to serve as Strengths Vocational Advisors (SVAs) who specialize in one-on-one CliftonStrengths coaching and vocational advising including guidance on major selection
  • Facilitate SophoMORE Experience programming
  • Partner with departmental faculty by providing classroom and departmental workshops and presentations about strengths, career readiness, vocation and calling, job search strategies, career preparation, and other appropriate topics as requested
  • Conduct faculty/staff training seminars on assessing/advising student calling and vocation and serve as a resource for faculty and staff as they advise students and incorporate vocational discussions into their course and advising
  • Serve on committees to advance the work of the department and university including the Advising Task Force, Student Success Committee, Registration Committee, and other ad hoc committees as requested
  • Serve and present at university events including Registration, New Student Orientation, LeeU Preview, Lee Day, Celebration Days, and Regalia Clearance
  • Facilitate the Graduation Career Survey for all graduates as part of their Regalia Clearance
  • Manage the finances of the department including the annual budget, monthly spending, student worker payroll, and monies earned through event registrations and tablecloth rentals

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to provide excellent professional customer service through both verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple deadlines, projects, and tasks simultaneously.
  • Possess strong organizational and people skills.
  • Maintain professional image and a strong work ethic.
  • Friendly demeanor with an attitude of service to others.
  • Willingness to collaborate with other departments and offices on campus.
  • Ability to manage office budgets, purchase orders, office supplies, payroll and student workers.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word and can learn other required programs such as Colleague and HandShake.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Related experience is preferred.
