Acevedo Wins Latin GRAMMY

Lee University’s Robert Acevedo Jr., a School of Theology & Ministry alum, recently received the 2022 Latin GRAMMY for Best Children’s Album.
The GRAMMY was given to artist Sofia’s album “A la Fiesta de la Música Vamos Todos,” on which Acevedo served as a percussionist. The album’s collaborators also used Acevedo’s studio, Rimshot Studios in Gainesville, Florida, as a home studio for production.
“Winning a Latin Grammy isn’t just an award for me,” said Acevedo. “It’s a testimony on how God has blessed me as an individual, and I couldn’t be more humbled and happier to have received this blessing in my life. I give God all the glory and all the honor!”
Acevedo graduated from Lee with a degree in pastoral ministry in 2018.
“Being involved at Lee gave me the ability and facilities to collaborate with some of the most incredible and talented musicians and people on this planet, and I can proudly say that because of their dedication to my musical career and spiritual investment, I am the musician that I am today,” said Acevedo.
Acevedo owns and operates Rimshot Studios, a studio that specializes in music, production, and recording. The studio also offers lessons for percussionists and is home to performing artists, including José Valentino, one of the world’s leading flutists.
“Rimshot Studios’ goal is to give musicians the tools they need to get somewhere in the industry,” said Acevedo. “The reason I founded the studio was to make sure musicians get treated fairly, paid, and receive the right opportunities, and so far, we’ve succeeded.”
