Credit/Debit Card Service Fee to be Assessed Beginning in July
Beginning July 1, 2024, card transactions toward Lee University student accounts will see a service fee of 2.65% added to the balance of the amount charged to the credit or debit card.
With the proliferation of cards used as primary means of payment, the credit/debit card service fees that have previously been covered by vendors are being passed through to the customer in businesses large and small. In many places it has become a fee associated with the convenience and benefits of using “plastic.”
This fee will not be assessed for any payments of application fees or housing deposits. Similarly, individuals making donations using credit or debit cards will not be assessed this convenience fee.
The credit/debit card service fee for use of this payment method will not appear on the student bill. It will be assessed at the time of payment and will only be reflected on the payment receipt, as the fee will be sent directly to the provider of merchant transaction services.
Individuals making payments toward a student’s school bill can avoid this fee by paying online with electronic check or in person with cash, check, cashier’s check, or money order.
