Returning to Lee University by popular demand, Italian pianist Fabio Bidini will open the Presidential Concert Series on Thursday, Sept. 22, at 7: 30 p.m. in Pangle Hall.

Applauded by the New York Times for his “admirable simplicity… [that is] truly touching,” Bidini is one of the most widely acclaimed pianists ever to appear on Lee’s campus, “bringing Italian bravissimo to every performance.”  He is considered among the world’s leading concert pianists and pedagogues.

The evening will feature music by Bach/Busoni, Beethoven, Debussy, and Chopin.

Bidini, an official Steinway Artist, has performed with many renowned orchestras worldwide such as the Dallas Symphony, Budapest Festival Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, The Philharmonia Orchestra of London, and BBC Orchestra Wales playing in prestigious concert halls including Carnegie Hall, Kimmel Center Philadelphia, Kennedy-Center Washington, Royal Festival Hall, Davies Hall, Auditorio Nacionál-Madrid, and Amsterdam.

In 2015 the Colburn Conservatory of Music in Los Angeles founded the Carol Colburn Grigor Piano Chair for Bidini, and he currently serves as faculty at the prestigious conservatory. Additionally, he serves as an artist in residence at the “Hochschule für Musik und Tanz” in Köln.

Concert tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for students and seniors and are available for purchase at eventbrite.com or at the Dixon Center Box Office, (423) 614-8343, beginning Sept. 15, between 3-6 p.m.
