For King & Country to Continue U-Church Series

Lee University will welcome Australian artists For King & Country to continue its fall U-Church series on Sunday, Oct. 7, at 7:30 p.m. in the Conn Center.
“Over the past several years, For King & Country has consistently been one of the most requested bands through our U-Church artist interest surveys and social media interaction,” said Josh York, U-Church director. “We have patiently waited for the right time where schedules align in a way that would allow for them to be part of the U-Church concert series. I am so excited that October 7 is that time!”
The Christian pop duo, composed of brothers Joel and Luke Smallbone, emphasizes soaring melodies, driving rhythms, theatrical instrumentation, and personal themes, according to their website. Their newest release is about choosing joy while still confronting reality.
“It’s a genuine look at what it means to be joyous,” Joel Smallbone said. “It’s our hope that this song will remind people to actively and deliberately, moment by moment, day by day, choose joy in the face of any circumstance.”
Two-time Grammy Award-winners, For King & Country celebrated a gold album with its sophomore release, “Run Wild. Live Free. Love Strong,” and two gold singles, “Fix My Eyes” and “The Proof of Your Love.” The brothers’ debut album, “Crave,” won them Billboard’s New Artists to Watch for 2012.
Since then, they’ve sold nearly 900,000 equivalent albums and amassed 284 million on-demand streams and 93 million YouTube views. Garnering critical praise and a No. 1 debut on iTunes, they headlined a 60-date tour with 28 sold-out shows. They’ve performed on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” “The Today Show,” “The Tonight Show,” and “FOX and Friends” and have had songs featured on the Emmys, the Super Bowl, Sunday Night Football, U.S. Open, and more.
