Jackson Crowned Homecoming Queen
Audrey Jackson was crowned Lee University’s 2011 Homecoming Queen as a part of the weekend’s annual festivities.
Jackson, daughter of Tim and Cindy, is an English major from Mt. Juliet, Tenn. She is currently involved as a residence hall chaplain and teaching assistant, and has also been involved with Student Leadership Council. She was escorted by Beecher Reuning at the Saturday afternoon game.
A native of Blue Ridge, Ga., Reuning is majoring in telecommunications. He is the son of Wes and Leslee Reuning. During his time at Lee, he has been a student leader of Crossover Ministries and worked with the Lee Clarion multimedia and the Lee Video Production Center.
Other members of the court from the senior class were Danielle Durham, escorted by Nathan Page, Holly Helton, escorted by Daniel Diffenderfer, and Erica Leung, escorted by Stephen Van Gorp.
Durham, daughter of Daniel and Lisa Durham, is from Lakeland Fla. A public relations major, she is involved in Student Leadership Council, the Public Relations Student Society of America, and Lambda Pi Eta, the communications honor society.
Page is a chemistry and pre-med major from McMinnville, Tenn. He is the son of Jeff and Gina Page. He is the president of Phi Mu Alpha music fraternity, and a member of the Lee Cycling Team.
Helton is majoring in psychology and has been involved with Lee’s prayer leadership team, served as a Small Group floor leader, and been a Poiema Scholar. She is from Franklin, Tenn., and is the daughter of Charles and Suzanne Helton.
Diffenderfer, of Carthage, Tenn., is the son of Scott and Jane Diffenderfer. He is a political science major and has been a Kairos scholar, the vice president of the Shenanigans Improv Team, and the manager and head peer leader of First Year Programs.
Leung is a piano performance major with minors in public relations and business administration. She is from Trenton, Tenn., and her parents are Aaron and Maggie Leung. While at Lee, she has performed with Wind Ensemble and Chamber Strings, worked as an administrative assistant for String Theory at the Hunter, and served as a peer leader and president of Sigma Alpha Iota.
Van Gorp, a native of Marietta, Ga., is majoring in psychology. He is the son of Craig and Julie Van Gorp. He is currently a big brother of Omega Alpha Phi, the president of Theta Delta Kappa, a student worker for the president’s office, and a peer leader.
The junior class was represented by Kelsy Black, escorted by Michael Young, and Rachel Cannon, escorted by Caleb Cox.
Black is from Franklin, Tenn., the daughter of Don and Teri Black. She is a communications major and is a member of Omega Alpha Phi, Lambda Pi Eta, Kairos, and has served as a peer leader and with Life 423 Ministries.
A theology major from Flowery Branch, Ga., Young is a member of Alpha Gamma Chi, the Conn Center chapel band, and Lambda Chi middle school ministries. His parents are Dan and Jill Young.
Hailing from St. Louis, Miss., Cannon is working toward a theology major and history minor. At Lee, she has been a resident chaplain, a freshman peer leader, and participated in the Women’s Round Table, Lambda Phi Eta honor society, Lee prayer, Campus Choir, Shenanigans Improv Team, and Student Leadership Council. She is the daughter of John and Lori Cannon.
Business administration major Cox is from Nashville Tenn. His parents are Tim and Suzanna Cox. Cox is currently a resident assistant in Medlin Hall.
Sophomore representatives were Beatrice Joyner, escorted by Ryan Hartmann, and Forrest Wilson, escorted by Benjamin Counts.
Originally from Pahokee, Fla., Joyner is the daughter of Hector and Betty Calderon. She is an elementary education major and is involved with Student Leadership Council, Backyard Ministries, and the Council for Exceptional Children.
Hartman is majoring in theology with a minor is psychology. He is from Columbus, Oh., and is the son of Doyle and Chris Hartman. He is involved with Living Example Ministries and Intramural Sports at Lee.
History and humanities major Wilson is involved with the Student Leadership Council Cabinet and Small Group. She is the daughter of Jenne and Chris Wilson, and is from Etowah, Tenn.
Counts is from Franklin, Tenn., and is majoring in public relations. He is a resident assistant in O’Bannon Hall, serves with the Alternative Chapel worship team, and works for the Office of Admission. His parents are David and Robin Counts.
Freshmen nominees were Jillian Blanchett, escorted by Tyler Love, and Molly Braswell, escorted by Stephen Black.
Blanchett is an athletic training major from Chapel Hill, Tenn. Her parents are Mark and Janice Blanchett.
Originally from Dalton, Ga., Love is the son of Frances Ramsey, and is majoring in telecommunications.
A journalism major from Murfreesboro, Tenn., Braswell is involved with Young Life. She is the daughter of Phillip and Paige Braswell.
Black is a business and youth ministry double major from Acworth, Ga. His parents are Terry and Lia Black, and he is involved in the Student Leadership Council.
The Homecoming Court was presented at half-time of the Flames basketball game on Saturday afternoon.
