Lee University’s Dr. Skip Jenkins, professor of historical theology, recently wrote a book titled “20 Questions: Answering Your Questions about Speaking in Tongues” and will soon release a follow-up book on the Holy Trinity.

“20 Questions” tackles the 20 most common questions Jenkins receives about the biblical gift and practice of speaking in tongues, including topics relating to spiritual giftedness, doubt, and salvation. These questions came from people in a variety of backgrounds, including Pentecostal, Catholic, and non-Christian.

Jenkins was inspired to write his book after years of receiving questions from the students in his theology classes, as many of them had not heard of speaking in tongues until they came to Lee.

“The frequency of preaching on this topic and participation in the practice seems to have waned in recent years,” said Jenkins. “Children may hear about it at youth camps, but in-depth teaching on the Baptism with the Holy Spirit has not gotten into the young adults who pass into my classes at Lee. I try to rectify that.”

Jenkins will release a second book next year with Pathway Press, titled “20 Questions: Answering your Questions on the Trinity.” In this book, Jenkins will provide 20 answers to 20 questions on the Trinity explaining what Christians mean when they say that they believe in one God existing in three persons—the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Some questions come from students in his classes at Lee, while others from pastors and parishioners in the field, many of which have been asked of the Christian church for centuries.

“The book is ‘defensive’ insofar as it answers questions posed from non-Christians who seek justification for the Christian belief that God is Trinity, and it is ‘didactic’ inasmuch as it answers questions submitted by Christians who seek to understand what they believe about God who is Trinity,” said Jenkins.

At Lee, Jenkins teaches courses on the history of Christianity, doctrine of the Trinity, and the New Testament. He is a recipient of Lee University’s Excellence in Advising Award, Excellence in Teaching Award, and the Janet Rahamut Award. He is the author of “A Spirit Christology” and has also created and taught a video-based course, “Living the Faith,” for the Church of God’s Ministerial Internship Program.

“20 Questions: Answering Your Questions about Speaking in Tongues” is available for purchase at Pathway Press or by visiting pathwaybookstore.com. “20 Questions: Answering your Questions on the Trinity” will be available at Pathway Press in the summer of 2025.
