Lee Theatre Announces Fall Performances
The Lee University Theatre Program, led by Dr. Christine Williams, will perform two plays, including a special student directed production during the fall semester.
The season will begin with “Where Have All the Lightning Bugs Gone?” by Louis E. Catron. Fai Lloyd, senior theatre major, will direct the play which will run on Sept. 23 and 24 at 7:30 p.m. This nostalgic show is sure to capture the “almost unspeakably poignant wonder of love.”
“It is always exciting to have our students direct in our season,” said Williams, professor of theatre. “Fai brought a wonderful play to our attention, and we don’t often have the opportunity to produce one-act plays. We are thrilled for our audiences to have this opportunity to experience this play.”
The season will continue with “Antigone” by Sophocles. “Antigone” is a modernized telling of the classical Greek story of one woman standing up for her beliefs. Directed by Williams, this show will take place Nov. 4-5 and 10-12 at 7:30 p.m.
Both performances will take place in the Buzz Oats Blackbox Theater, located in the Communication Arts Building.
Online ticket sales are available within a week of opening night on Eventbrite or through the Lee Theatre Box Office, also located in the Communication Arts Building.
