Lee Welcomes Three New Faculty Members
Lee University added three new faculty members this spring. These new faculty members include Michael Finch, Sarah Schlosser, and David Smartt.
The Department of Communication and the Arts welcomed Finch as the student media advisor and a communication instructor. Before coming to Lee he taught journalism and media courses for the graduate and undergraduate programs at his alma mater, Regent University. Finch also served as the youth pastor at a community church for four years before entering his PhD program.
Finch is working on his dissertation for a PhD in Communication at Regent University where he received his MA in journalism. He also holds a BA in Biblical Studies of Advertising from Elim Bible Institute. He teaches three courses at Lee including Reporting and Writing, Innovation and Social Media, and Principles of Advertising.
Schlosser joined the Department of Natural Science and Mathematics as an assistant professor of chemistry. She received her PhD in chemistry education and her master’s degree in chemistry with an emphasis in chemistry education both from Purdue University. She earned a BA in chemistry and a teacher licensure in chemistry and physical science from Lee University.
Schlosser’s dissertation explored a qualitative look at students and methods of presentations used in chemistry classes. Prior to Lee, she taught high school chemistry for five years at Noblesville High School in Indiana. She is also a member of professional organizations American Chemical Society and The American Education Research Association.
Smartt joined the Department of Business as an assistant professor of business. Prior to teaching at Lee he served as an active chaplain at the rank of Colonel in the U.S. Army. During his time as chaplain he served at the Pentagon as Director of Resource Management Office of the Chief of Chaplains and as the Commandant of the U.S. Army Chaplain Center and School where he trained and educated other chaplains.
Smartt is teaching courses such as Principles of Management, Organizational Behavior, and Business Ethics. He holds a PhD in management from Northcentral University and an MS in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College. He earned his MBA from Syracuse University and his bachelor’s degree from Lee University.
