Mundy Attends Johns Hopkins Seminar
Lee University Professor Dr. Karen Mundy-Judkins recently attended the 33rd Annual Summer Institute of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at Johns Hopkins University (JHU) in Baltimore, Maryland. Sponsored by JHU’s Bloomberg School of Public Health, this year’s seminar series, titled “Current Issues in Epidemiologic Research,” took place June 15-30.
While at the institute, Mundy-Judkins studied epidemiology in evidence-based policy. Epidemiology, the analysis of group patterns in health and illness, is a specialty area in many doctoral and medical programs. Insurance companies and private and federal programs increasingly rely on epidemiological studies for many decisions on health care access and benefits.
Mundy-Judkins is a professor of sociology at Lee. She specializes in medical sociology and epidemiology, and did her post-doctoral training in epidemiology at Johns Hopkins. In the fall, she and her husband, sociologist Ben Judkins, will teach a course on research and aging for Lee’s Encore program.
