Qing Jiang to Perform Sunday

Lee University School of Music will welcome pianist Qing Jiang to perform on Sunday, Feb. 3 at 3 p.m. The concert will be held at the Squires Recital Hall in the Humanities building.

The program will include works from composers Debussy, Schumann, and Australian composer Brett Dean.

Jiang, from Zhenjiang, China, has performed internationally and is the recipient of many awards. She has displayed her talent across the United States and abroad in venues such as Alice Tully Hall, Carnegie’s Weill Hall, the Peter Jay Sharp Theatre, Jordan Hall and the Central Conservatory in Beijing.

Jiang has had the privilege of working with acclaimed artists such as Itzhak Perlman, Donald Weilerstein, Curtis Macomber, Roger Tapping, and Natasha Brofsky. She has also studied under Leon Fleisher, Claude Frank, Gary Graffman, Gilbert Kalish, Yoheved Kaplinsky, Laurence Lesser, Menaham Pressler, Ann Schein, Weilerstein Duo, Wu Han and members of Cleveland Quartet and Peabody Trio.

Since 2010 Jiang has been a member of New England Conservatory (NEC) Preparatory School’s faculty. She also taught master classes at the Silicon Valley Music Festival in San Jose, Calif. As a founding member of NEC Honor’s Ensemble Trio ING, she performed Schumann’s “Violin Sonata No. 2” in Carnegie Hall with ING’s violinist Ying Xue.

Vivien Shweitzer of the New York Times said Jiang’s Carnegie Hall performance was “passionately rendered by [Jiang], whose vigorous playing elicited sustained applause between movements.”

The New York Sun has described Jiang as an “exceptional talent.”

Jiang, a performer, teacher and arts advocate desires to teach and be an arts advocate. Jiang graduated summa cum laude from Arizona State University and is currently working on her doctoral studies at the New England Conservatory.

The concert is free and open to the public.
