Taylor Named Honorary Alumnus of the Year
Lee University has named Bank of Cleveland’s Chairman and CEO Scott Taylor as Honorary Alumnus of the Year.
“I’m so pleased that Scott is this year’s honorary alumnus,” said Lee president Dr. Paul Conn. “He is one of Cleveland’s most admired business leaders. His bank has gained a reputation for success and effectiveness in a very tough economic environment. His friendship for Lee is unparalleled in this community. We’re proud to call him a Lee alum!”
Taylor, a native of Bradley County, has held leadership roles for numerous local organizations, including serving as Vice Chair of the Cleveland Bradley Industrial Development Board. He also serves on the Cleveland State Community College Foundation Board, Cleveland 100, and is an active member of MainStreet Cleveland.
A graduate of Cleveland High School, Taylor attended Cleveland State Community College and the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He began his 49-year banking career at Merchants Bank in 1975 and was one of the founding members of Bank of Cleveland, which opened its doors in 1987. Under his leadership, the bank has grown to become one of the top-performing financial institutions headquartered in Tennessee.
Taylor and his late wife, Sharon, who passed away in 2021, have two children, Clint and Clarke. He also has two daughters-in-law, Beth and Kristen, and four grandchildren: Caleb, Boone, Thomas, and Will.
