Lee University’s a cappella ensemble Voices of Lee has been invited to perform as featured guests during the 42nd annual Lincoln Memorial Easter Sunrise Service in Washington, D.C.

“We are thrilled to be in Washington, D.C. for this wonderful Easter Sunday Sunrise Service,” said Danny Murray, Voices of Lee director. “What a great tradition!”

Hosted by Capital Church, this celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ has become a Washington tradition, while also attracting thousands from all over the United States and the world.

Voices of Lee was invited by Capital Church pastors Tara and Travis Goodman to be a part of this special service. “This is going to be phenomenal,” said Tara Goodman. “To have Danny Murray and the Voices of Lee gathered with thousands of worshipers declaring the name of Jesus over our nation’s capital at sunrise on Easter morning? It just doesn’t get any better than that!”

This 13-member a cappella ensemble is characterized by its unique variety of lush vocal harmonies, along with high energy contemporary arrangements from several genres. Voices of Lee has recorded 15 CD projects and, most recently, their video recordings have exceeded 111 million views online. They have captivated audiences worldwide, performing at the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris, and have been featured performers for Christmas at the White House in D.C. Their convention appearances have taken them from Israel to Ontario and numerous cities in the United States, including many of the nation’s largest churches.

The ensemble was propelled into the international spotlight on the debut season of NBC’s Sing-Off, a competition for a cappella groups. Out of thousands of auditions, Voices of Lee was selected as one of eight groups to compete and was featured on four primetime NBC network episodes. Voices was voted 2018 “Favorite Collegiate Group,” “Favorite Religious Group,” and “Favorite Video” by the International A Cappella Music Awards’ voting audience. They have been featured performers in China at the Shang Hai International Music Festival, at Carnegie Hall, and featured in “Make the Season Bright” at the Beacon Theater on Broadway.

The sunrise service will take place at 6:30 a.m. on Easter Sunday, April 17, and will be available for livestream viewing at eastersunrise.com.

Capital Church, located in Vienna, Virginia, was founded in 1979 by Tara’s parents Amos and Sue Dodge. For over 40 years now, this church has been committed to transforming the community, nation, and the world with the love of Jesus.
